Just bought es8092 and have some questions...
« Thread started on: May 26th, 2004, 08:17am » |

I recently purchased a Panasonic es8092 I wanted to ask a few questions about it:
1. should it be cleaned after every use? I have used it 5 times so far (for Wet Shaves each time), and clean it after each use.
2. I noticed that if you remove the screen, the 2 inner blades are not in the same orientation i.e. one is at a different angle than the other, and they cant both be made to rest at the same degree (is this normal, or is there something a wrong with mine?).
3. the blades begin to heat up after use (is this normal or not)? 4. Im using shaving gel with it I remember reading somewhere that there is a lotion/liquid I should apply to the shaver prior to each use (I think it was to stop metal-to-metal binding or something) any ideas what this is?
5. Anyone got any tips for keeping the shaver in best condition?
6. Is there any electric shaver that shaves even closer than this?
7. can I shave by moving the shaver left and right as well as up and down as well (or will this damage the shaver)? Are circular motions alright too? I just want to add: I always thought electric shavers were absolutely useless in the past and have always used the Mach 3 Turbo for all my shaves (which I like to be super close). I would have to shave against the grain of my beard and with several hard strokes to achieve a smooth shave, which left my face irritated and bleeding. This made it impossible for me to shave more than once every 3 days.
Whilst it takes the same time for me to shave with the es8092 (which gives me 4 four shaves per charge before dropping back to a power rating of 20%), I can now shave daily, without irritation, and with very very nearly just as close a shave as the Mach 3 Turbo.
Thanks

Rishi,
Welcome to Electric Razor Rap. I'll answer as many questions as I can regarding your Panasonic ES8092 razor. Hopefully, others who have the same razor can help you further.
Answer #1 - Yes, I would clean it every time. It's certainly easy enough, with being able to rinse it with water. I'd also recommend a weekly soak of the cutters in rubbing alcohol.
#2 - Since you said the shave is really close, I don't think there's anything wrong with your razor.
#3 - The blades heating up is normal. Foil razors tend to heat up a lot.
#4 - It's lubricant. Parks Shave Ease, Remington Shaver Saver, and Philips AL80C are all examples of these.
#5 - Just keep it cleaned, and periodically drain the battery fully to help lengthen battery life, although I have heard from many people who say Panasonic razor batteries are notoriously unreliable.
#6 - Your face will be the judge of that. I prefer rotary (Philishave/Norelco). The only way to truly know is to try one. Philips does offer a generous 60-day money-back guarantee if you're not happy.
#7 - The other motions you mentioned are good, but circular motions are more for rotary razors. You won't damage the razor by using circular motions, though. Give it a shot. It might prove effective.

Thanks for your reply - I know there were a lot of questions!
I'll take your advice on the maintenance. The circular motion I was mentionning with this shaver seem to work for me, in getting rid of difficult hairs (and it's good to know that by doing so, I am not damaging the shaver).

Hello, My es8092 recently died after 8 months. See my post below. I found the shaver worked best with Lectric Shave Ultra. Clean it after every use by putting a drop of liquid hand soap over the foil and letting it foam for a few seconds. Allways gave me a great shave but with some (tollerable) irritation. Purchased a Norelco for a try. Good luck.
